Elaine Chandler is a freelance writer who has been published online at Writers Weekly, in print at The Good News Paper, and Reading Today. Holding dual degrees in the health care and elementary education, she has conducted teacher-training workshops at numerous schools and conferences, including the New York State Reading Association, Purchase College’s Science is Elementary Program, the New York State Council for Social Studies, the New York State Middle School Association, and the Rochester Area Balanced Literacy Consortium. An advocate for children, she directed Project S.O.A.R. (Students Optimistic About Reading), a volunteer tutoring program in Syracuse, New York, for three years. She continually conducts research on what helps children to be successful in school and in life. She is also the author of a Young Adult fiction novel, Year of the Crystal Children.
